When this occurs, the individual bursts and is forced to leave the game. The remaining cards will provide you with strong weapons to assist you avoid bursting! This procedure continues until only one person remains, and that individual is the winner of the game.

…essentially, you lose if you explode, and you win if you don’t.

15 minutes is all that is required.

This tutorial will show you how to play Exploding Minions, a card game based on the famous game Exploding Kittens. Below the list are some additional concepts and unique rules. For your convenience, they will be referred to.

REMOVE THE EXPLOSIVE MINION CARDS FROM THE SETUP Set aside the cards that take players out as the first stage in how to play Exploding Minions setup. There are a total of four Exploding Minions cards. Set them aside for now, and you’ll be able to include them into the final setup deck. You’ll end up playing with a total of one fewer than the total number of participants. There are a total of four players since the game may be played with up to five.

2. SETUP | ACCORDING TO THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS, USE CARDS You’ll utilize various parts of the total cards depending on the amount of participants. The “Gru Tech” symbol (circle with a diamond in it) appears on 31 cards and does not appear on 37 others. With two players, only the Gru cards are used, for three players, only the without are used, and for four or five players, all 68 cards are used.

3. SETUP | Set Defuse Cards Aside Defuse cards, which are clearly labeled as such, are similar to special power cards. Remove them from the deck, shuffle them, and distribute one to each player. After that, reshuffle the rest of the cards back into the deck. These are excellent cards.

4. SETUP | Distribute the Opening Hands Shuffle the deck and distribute 7 cards to each player. They’ll have a total of 8 cards (7 + 1 diffuse). Each person examines their own cards, which they keep hidden from the other players.

5. SETUP | Add Enough Exploding Minions to the Mix Shuffle a number of Exploding Minion cards into the deck equal to the number of players minus one. Five players equals four, four players equals three, and so on. Everyone but one player will ultimately explode as a result of this.

6. SETUP | Select a Player to Begin With Before beginning gaming, the last step in the Exploding Minions setup is to choose a starting player. Make use of your preferred randomizer.

7. GAMEPLAY | Have fun! Place a card FACE UP on top of the discard pile and play it according to the instructions on the card. You may play another card once you’ve followed the directions on the card. You may play as many as you like from your hand.

8. GAMEPLAY | DON’T DON’T DON’T DON’ You have the option of not playing any cards at all. To finish your turn, do nothing and go on to drawing.

DRAW A CARD | GAMEPLAY You will finish your turn by drawing one card from the draw pule and placing it in your hand after either passing or playing as many cards as you like. You’re hoping it’s not an Exploding Minion.

10. GAMEPLAY | If you explode, you’re out. If you draw one of the Exploding Minion cards at any time throughout the game, you will explode and be eliminated. The game continues, but you are no longer a part of it.

11. GAMEPLAY | Pass & Repeat Players play whatever cards they are going to play and then the act of drawing a card signifies the end of your turn. Play then moves to the player clockwise in the circle. This continues until the game ends. You never have to worry about running out of cards because eventually those exploding cards will be drawn and the game will end.

12. WINNING | The winner is the last person standing. The game finishes when everyone but one participant has burst, and the surviving person is declared the winner.

  • Early in the game, when your chances of exploding are minimal, it’s a smart idea to preserve your cards.
  • You can always calculate the chances of bursting by counting the cards remaining in the draw pile.
  • There is no such thing as a minimum or maximum hand size. There is no particular action to take if you run out of cards in your hand. Continue to play; all you have to do now is pass and then draw a card the following round.

Unless you have a defuse card, show this card right away or you’ll be out of the game. In front of you, place this card and any other unused cards from your hand.

Defuse – Instead of dying, you may play one of these if you drew an Exploding Minion. It is then discarded, and the Exploding Minion is reinserted into the deck. You may place it anywhere you like in the deck as long as you don’t peek at the other cards or rearrange anything. If you want to stick it to the next person, you may even toss it on top. You don’t get to play anything else or draw a card once your turn is over.

Attack – Instead of drawing cards, compel the following player to take two consecutive turns. The game then moves on to the next participant. If the victim uses an attack card on the first of their two turns, the next player must take all of the turns (so it is the 1 remaining plus the new 2 in this case but they can rack up).

Nope, save for an Exploding Minion or a defuse card, you can’t do anything. It’s as if any card underneath a nope card was never there in the first place. Because it is a reaction to the regular playing of cards, it may be played at any moment, even if it is not your turn.

See Into the Future – View the top three cards from the draw pile in private and reshuffle them in the same order. Do not reveal the identity of any other player.

Skip — End your turn immediately without drawing a card. You only miss one of the turns you have to take if this happens during an assault.

Shuffle – Reaming draw pile should be shuffled.

Draw From the Bottom — At the end of your turn, take the lowest card from the Draw Pile.

Minion Character Cards — These cards have no power on their own, but if you gather two of them, you may play them as a Pair to take a random card from any player.

Clone — When you play this card into the discard pile, it transforms into the card underneath it. A clone cannot be played on top of another clone. To nullify an Exploding Minion card you draw, play a clone on top of a defuse card. You may also play on top of a character card if you have another of the same character, completing the set and stealing a random card.

We hope you can now confidently claim to have mastered the game of Exploding Minions. This themed version of the original Kickstarter that took the world by storm, Exploding Kittens, is the same game but incorporates all of the characters and world items from the Illumination film series Despicable Me about a criminal mastermind who uses a trio of orphan girls as pawns for a grand scheme and discovers that their love is profoundly changing him for the better. The Minions, a species of little yellow henchmen, are the center of this game.

The game itself is a reimagining of the traditional card game Uno, with a dash of hot potato thrown in for good measure. The game’s rules are simple, and it all boils down to letting the cards carry you where you need to go rather than being the last person left holding the metaphorical bag, in this instance, the exploding minions, which will knock you out. It’s an enjoyable trip for every kind of gamer.
