GTA Online Profile Migration from PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S

14th of March, 2022 18th of March, 2022 PrintShare

How can I transfer my GTA Online profile to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox One X|S?

Once you’ve logged in to the Rockstar Games Social Club on your choice console, you may migrate your profile using either the GTA Online Page for Landing or the Pause Menu.

IMPORTANT: Your migrated profile will no longer be accessible on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One after your progress has been moved from PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.

Profiles cannot be moved from the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to the PC.

Page for Landing

After choosing the Online option from the Page for Landing you will be presented with a Migrate Profile screen. From here, choose what platform account profile you wish to migrate from. You must then confirm that you wish to migrate the selected profile with the understanding that any unspent purchased GTA$ are not eligible for transfer across platforms (i.e., PlayStation 4 to Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One to PlayStation 5). An alert screen will let you know when the migration successfully completes.

NOTE: Players who have already bought the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack will be notified that all of the discounts connected with that pack will be applied to the game.

Players will then be sent to the Review Character page, where they may select whether to create a new character or keep the one they have.

The current character slot will be overwritten if you want to continue with a new character. You will be sent to the Career Builder selection screen if you have not yet created a new character using the Career Builder. If you opt to keep your current character, you will be sent to GTA Online.

Pause the menu. If you don’t migrate your profile when you first join GTA Online on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, you may do it later by going to the Pause Menu and choosing Online then Migrate Profile. The methods outlined above may then be used to complete the migration process.

NOTE: Some profiles may be ineligible for migration due to a variety of factors, including account suspension or ban, or illegitimate or inadequate progress.

Will my GTA$ be transferred if I switch platforms while moving my GTA Online progress?

Answer: During GTA Online profile migration, purchased GTA$ (i.e., money earned via Shark Cards, platform membership programs, and so on) may only be moved across platforms in the same family (PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S). Regardless of platform family, all earned GTA$ (money earned from playing the game) will move.

NOTE: Any unused GTA$ from the PlayStation Plus monthly GTA$1,000,000 bonus may only be transferred to the PlayStation 5.

How can I access the Story version of Grand Theft Auto V if I purchased the standalone version of GTA Online?

Answer: There are numerous ways to buy Story Mode in-game:

  • Page for Landing
    • If you have the standalone version of GTA Online, you should see a purchase prompt on the Story tab of the Page for Landing when you start up the game. Selecting this tab opens the platform store associated with your game to complete the purchase of Story Mode. Once completed, the prompt to purchase it will no longer appear, and you can launch Story Mode by selecting the Story tab from the Page for Landing.
  • In-Game Store – Pause Menu
    • You can enter the in-game store tab through the Pause Menu and select the Story upgrade. This opens the platform store associated with your game to complete the purchase of Story Mode. Once the purchase is completed, you can leave the platform store, which returns you to the Page for Landing where you can select the Story tab to enter Story Mode.
  • Online Pause Menu
    • You can enter the Online tab of the Pause Menu and select the Quit to Story Mode option. This displays a prompt alerting you to go to the platform store associated with your game to complete the purchase of Story Mode. Upon completing the purchase, you can leave the platform store, which returns you to the Page for Landing where you can select the Story tab to enter Story Mode.
  • Online Character Wheel
    • You can bring up the Character Wheel while holding down on the D-Pad. If you release it while a Story Mode character is highlighted, it will display an alert asking if you want to continue to the platform store associated with your game to complete the purchase of Story Mode. Upon completing the purchase, you can leave the platform store which returns you to the Page for Landing where you can select the Story tab, letting you enter Story Mode.
