Microsoft has confirmed that Bethesda’s selection of new games will be exclusive to Xbox and PC platforms. The news comes from Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who announced on his blog this morning that Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, is now complete. Bethesda Game Studios, Software id, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog and Roundhouse Studios are now officially the newest members of Xbox Game Studios.

This is the next step in building a first-class studio team, a promise we made to the Xbox community, Spencer wrote. With the arrival of Bethesda’s creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PCs and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some upcoming new games that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC gamers.

As we’ve said before, it’s important that Bethesda continues to develop games the way it always has. We hope that Bethesda’s creative teams can reach even more gamers around the world and help make future Bethesda games the biggest and most popular in their history. Xbox and Bethesda have long shared a vision of the future of gaming. From fans to developers, Bethesda knows the potential of Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft has agreed to Bethesda’s existing terms to release Arcane’s Deathloop and Tango Gameworks’ Ghostwire: Tokyo, exclusively for PlayStation 5. Future Bethesda hits like The Elder Scrolls VI and the sci-fi role-playing game Starfield may only be playable on Xbox and PC. Most of these games are expected to be released later today via Microsoft’s highly successful game subscription service, Xbox Game Pass.
