Termination of activities
CD Projekt Red announced on December 4, 2019 that GWENT: The Witches Card Game will be closed and removed from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 9, 2020. The full announcement can be found below:
When we launched the console versions of GWENT in 2017, our intention was to provide console gamers with the same level of support as their PC counterparts. However, with the launch of GWENT on iOS and the arrival of the Android version, the number of supported platforms will increase significantly. In the future, we do not expect to be able to support more and more different versions of GWENT while improving the parity of features between them.
Since PC and mobile are the most popular platforms among GWENT gamers, we have made the difficult decision to no longer support the console versions of the game. All GWENT console players will be able to copy their account and purchase history from their current platform to a GOG account that will be used for both the PC and mobile versions of the game.
How exactly would that work?
Starting December 9, 2019, console players can access a webpage where they can request to copy their progress from their console account to a new or existing GOG account. Since we do not support “merging” accounts, we can only copy progress to existing GOG accounts that do not have GWENT progress at the time of the request.
This account copy will be available for 6 months – from 09/12/2019 to 09/06/2020. On 09/12/2019 we will publish an update that will significantly freeze GWENT in its current state. From then on both versions of the console will run until 06/09/2020, and until then their functionality will be limited. For example:
– There will be no regular console updates, starting with the December 9 update
Future expansions and additional content will not be published on the consoles –
We are disabling all real-money purchases on the console starting today –
After the December 9, 2019 update, pairing on the consoles with other platforms will no longer be supported
What progression is copied
: – All collected trinkets –
Meteor powder – Applies to Xbox One* players only –
All other currencies –
Game lists –
Account balance –
Current rating – Tron Breaker Rewards –
*It is unfortunately not possible to transfer meteorite powder from PlayStation 4 to GOG.COM. PlayStation 4 players must spend their meteorite powder before requesting the copy from their account to ensure the equivalent can be transferred.

Frequently asked questions
Is Gwent a real game?
Gwent is a little more than that. It is a complete game that you can play with friends. There is no need to collect more cards like in card games. ….You have 4 decks and that’s it.

Is Gwen dead?
It’s no surprise that Gwent’s card game, The Witcher, is most popular on PC and iOS: the game’s hardcore competitive scene feels at home on PC, while mobile play is much more convenient for everyone else. Today, CD Projekt Red announced that it will stop offering Gwent for consoles.
CD Projekt Red announced on December 4th, 2019 that GWENT: The Witcher Card Game would be shut down and removed from PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 9th, 2020. The full announcement follows:
When we launched the console versions of GWENT back in 2017, our intention was to provide console players with the same level of support as their PC counterparts. However, having just launched GWENT on iOS, and with the Android version coming, the number of supported platforms would significantly increase. Looking to the future, we do not believe we can support a growing number of different versions of GWENT while improving feature parity between them.
Considering that PC and mobile are the most popular platforms among GWENT players, we have made a tough decision: to discontinue support of console versions of the game. All GWENT players on consoles will be offered an option to copy their account progress and purchases from their current platform to a GOG account, which is used by both PC and mobile versions of the game.
How exactly is this going to work?
Starting from December 9th, 2019, console players will be able to access a webpage where they can request to copy their progress from their console account to a new or existing GOG account. Since we do not support the “merging” of accounts, we will only be able to copy progress to existing GOG accounts that do not have any GWENT progression on them at the time the request is made.
This account-copying process will be available for a period of 6 months — from 09/12/2019 to 09/06/2020. On 09/12/2019 we will release an update which will essentially freeze GWENT in its current state. From this point onwards, both console versions will be operational up until 09/06/2020. Until that time, their functionality will be limited. For example:
– There will be no regular updates for console versions starting with the December 9th update
– Future expansions and additional content won’t be released on consoles
– We’re disabling all real-money purchases on consoles, starting today
– After the December 9th, 2019 update, matchmaking on consoles with other platforms will no longer be supported
What progress will be copied:
– All collected ornaments
– Meteorite Powder — Only applies to Xbox One players*
– All other currencies
– Deck lists
– Account level
– Current Rank
– Thronebreaker rewards
*Unfortunately, transferring Meteorite Powder from PlayStation 4 to GOG.COM is not possible. PlayStation 4 Players will have to spend their Meteorite Powder before requesting the account-copying process to ensure that its equivalent value can carry over.
