We’re celebrating World First this week at Bungie, discussing raid metrics, and showing off a new weapon rotation for Trials and Banner of the Iron Throne.
Guardians have been delving into The Witch Queen and Season of the Risen, and have discovered a plethora of fresh tale material and mythology to explore that makes us weep. Despite some server troubles and a few snags in-game, the next chapter of Destiny’s ever-evolving tale has been an exciting one, and we’re still working on making it even better. There are many reasons to plunge in, from the Seasonal quest continuing to its conclusion to a fresh hotfix with bug patches that went live today. As a result, we’d like to discuss about some of the new weaponry coming to Osiris’ Trials and Banner of the Iron Throne, as well as returning maps making their way downtown (er, to the Crucible), and what problems have been fixed (link to patch notes).
But first, what? Art.
In case you missed it, we recently published a plethora of never-before-seen artwork from Bungie’s many creative developers. If you’re a fan of mythology, you should absolutely check it out and make sure you don’t miss out! Perhaps there will be some interesting tidbits for what comes next, as well as a new viewpoint on the Destiny 2 experience so far. Or maybe not. To find out for yourself, you’ll have to look it up right here. We’re taking a break after the TWAB, of course.
Getting Ready for the Races
If you haven’t had the opportunity to play the raid yet, there are a few minor spoilers ahead. The last battle brings a new challenge that the Guardians have never encountered before. I know how excellent he is at yeeting people off the map, and the world got to watch it in real time as players from all around the world competed to be the first team to clear Vow of the Disciple. A record number of players attempted blind runs, plunging into the fight without a guide or clear way in sight. To say that everyone who took part performed an outstanding job is an understatement, but only one team can win. Clan Elysium should be congratulated on their well-deserved victory, which came three minutes ahead of the competition.
Saltagreppo, Slap, Kyros, Moople, Quazz, and Cruz collaborated to plan, shoot, dodge, dunk, and solve their way to victory – one kick to the face at a time. What’s more, you know what? It was really worth it! Once again, congratulations to this outstanding group!
The new Vow of the Disciple raid tackles new themes and experiences, such as going off against a boss that makes taking down Guardians appear effortlessly easy, exploring gorgeously frightening locales, and uncovering more than a few secrets. For those interested, we’ve obtained some facts from the first 48 hours of a brutally difficult Contest Mode to offer, including Guardian participation records!
Let’s go down the Vow of the Disciple raid 48-hour stats:
- The raid had a total of 546,616 players.
- 270,648 players cleared Acquisition.
- 131,550 players have completed Caretaker.
- 80,153 players passed Exhibition.
- 32,621 unique players have completed the raid.
- Total number of enemies defeated: 1,005,850,547
- 70,067,705 Guardians died in all.
- 4,223,843 hours were spent in the Vow of the Disciple Contest Mode.
That’s … a lot of emblems and we’re working on getting those out sometime in the next few weeks. Make sure to follow Bungie Help on Twitter for more info. If you’ve signed up for our Bungie newsletters, stay tuned for your own #RaidComplete email on Tuesday, March 15. As a small heads up, that’s also the last day to get your first clear of Vow of the Disciple for that sweet, sweet raid jacket.
Day one started off well, but we ultimately noticed a profusion of ANTEATER error warnings, for those who may have missed the reason why the 24-hour Contest Mode timeframe was extended. This made completing the raid runs tough, particularly when the stakes were already high from striving to be the first to win. While we know this did upend some players’ weekend plans to play the raid on non-Contest Mode, we felt it was fair to extend the period since the “normal” version of the raid is always available. Contest Mode, on the other hand, is quite restricted and only appears following the addition of a raid. As a result, the team conferred and determined that an extension was the best course of action. However, now that Contest Mode is done, raid runs are available! Good luck, Guardians, and remember to bring an Outbreak Perfected to the firefight. (Source: Just believe me, dude.)
In Trials And Loot, Everything Is Equal
With the start of a new season, we thought it would be a good time to introduce some new rewards for PvP activities like Banner of the Iron Throne and Osiris’ Trials, so we’ve added a few new weapons for players to obtain. In Osiris’ Trials, players may acquire a new flashy Exotic Scout Rifle to make PvP dad happy (come on, who wouldn’t want to make Shaxx pleased!) as well as a returning classic Auto Rifle.
Osiris’ Trials
Osiris’ Trials will be returning this Friday, so let’s check out what’s on the way:
The Alacrity and One Quiet Moment origin qualities will be found on all six weapons in the forthcoming Trials pool. When going alone or as the last Guardian standing (which, if you’re like me and not the greatest PvP player, is a wonderful amount of aid), Alacrity enhances reload, stability, aim assist, and range. No remorse). When not in active battle, One Quiet Moment allows players to reload faster.
Aisha’s Embrace Scout Rifle (260 RPM Rapid-Fire Frame)
- Keep a watch out for the Triple Tap + Fourth Time’s the Charm combination, as well as some spicy alternatives like Tunnel Vision + Multikill Clip, which is a popular request.
Rifle with autoloader (Returning, 600 RPM Adaptive Frame)
- Some less popular perks have been removed from this returning classic’s per pools, while new favorites like Heating Up and Focused Fury have been added in their stead.
Banner of the Iron Throne
Banner of the Iron Throne will return to light those flames next Tuesday, here is what Wolves can look forward to:
All six weapons in this Banner of the Iron Throne pool will have the Skulking Wolf trait, which activates during the Hunt with enhanced radar and removal from enemy radar when you land those epic final blows with it. All returning Banner of the Iron Throne weapons will have updated perk pools, including the new perks from the current Season.
Oh! Also, don’t forget that the Eternity and Vostok maps have been reintroduced. We’re also working on a new map, although we’re not quite ready to speak about it just yet. Patience, little Grasshopper; we’ll get back to you on this later.
Report on Player Support
Leg day should never be skipped.

It’s been a hectic week at Bungie, and our Player Support Team has been working hard to ensure that your journeys across the Throne World go as smoothly as possible. We discovered several performance problems, vendor difficulties, and a few other flaws. While the work continues to flow through it all, the team has been concentrating on the following:
This is the outcome of their investigation.

Today, 4.0.0.3 (Hotfix) was released to the world. Below are some issues that have been resolved with this release:
- Players are no longer unable to interact with armor or weapon sockets until the remainder of the user interface has loaded.

Sam: Guardians, happy TWABsday! It’s been wonderful to witness all of your Raid clears and times you’ve been trampled on this week. I’m looking forward to jumping in this weekend and trying my luck in this lovely raid. Today, we’re ecstatic to present with you a breathtaking movie highlighting how beautiful Savvy’s Throne World is, and as spoiler warning, we get to witness… well, go watch.

Allow L-… Art to Exist!

Hippy: I simply wanted to let you know that it took all I had not to just pull memes. Is this the new raid boss? He’s elegance and beauty, and he’ll kick you in the face. But, sadly, there were so many wonderful works to chose from that I exercised restraint. Do you have any idea what we name it? Growth.
To the work of art!

Everyone is free to return home; I have my day 1 badge, therefore that makes me the world’s first, right?
When I saw the Day 1 insignia, I knew I had to build a glass suncatcher version.

So far this month has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but we’ve loved every second of the art, memes, and debates inspired by what’s new. Keep in mind that there will be a lot of New Lights coming in to see what all the fuss is about during your travels; let’s help them out and show them the genuine heart of the Destiny 2 community.
Before we leave you go, there’s one more item I’d want to bring up from the Bungie team. Bungie has already spoken out against the invasion of Ukraine, and to go beyond words, the first 48 hours of our current Game2Give charity broadcast have been devoted to humanitarian operations. Those interested in knowing more about the actions being taken may read about them here.
Various groups are offering assistance to individuals in need, according to a blog post published this week (available here). We also gave you a sneak peek at the new insignia (seen below), which you can use to demonstrate your support in-game. It’s a totally free method for us to express our support for impacted gamers and let them know they’re not alone.
“We humbly attempted to demonstrate the optimism and bravery that has been so iconic of the Ukrainian people during this hard period for “Coнник,” we humbly tried to exemplify the hope and courage that has been so characteristic of the Ukrainian people during this impossible time.” Impressionist sunflowers, Ukraine’s national flower, swarm the calm countryside beside Ukraine’s coat of arms — a message for optimism and our method of showing togetherness.”
Use the code JVG-VNT-GGG to get the free emblem.
Stay gentle till next time, and keep those fresh raid memes coming!
“I think I should go,” says the speaker.
