After careful analysis of recent @realDonaldTrump tweets and the context surrounding them, we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement to violence.
In the press release that follows this thread, the social network further explains that it took this action last Wednesday, the 6th. January, scheduled when the profile was first locked: Due to the horrific events of last Wednesday, we have made it clear that further violations of Twitter will lead to this action. ”
Use of the President’s account
Following the suspension of his personal Twitter account, Donald Trump turned to his last major channel of communication with his supporters: the President’s Twitter account.
During his tenure, Mr. Trump rarely used the @POTUS profile (acronym for President of the United States), an official account that indicates who holds the office of President of the United States. Instead, he posted on his profile and the messages were retweeted by @POTUS.
However, after suspending his personal account, Mr Trump decided to send new messages to his supporters. In an article, Mr. Trump commented on the creation of a new platform to communicate directly with his disciples.
In the news, the former entrepreneur also noted that Twitter is not a platform for free speech and that the social network is focused on promoting a radical left platform where the most violent people can freely express themselves.

In turn, the social network has taken other steps, deleting Donald Trump’s latest tweets on Presidential Twitter. The profile will remain up as of now, but will only show posts made before 2020.
