This step-by-step guide will show you how to play an online multiplayer match in Worms Armageddon. If you are one of those players who wants to have fun, then this guide is for you.
Switching to the network menu
Read on below…
First we need to open the network menu by pressing the 3rd button in the main menu where the two worms are in the computers.
Create an alias
We need to make up a nickname for ourselves before we can participate in an online multiplayer game. You can enter it in the “Player Info” section of the “Network” menu.
They are limited:
- 16 characters
- Latin base letters in both cases (a-z, A-Z)
- Arabic numerals (0-9)
- Severe Accent (“)
- Link sign ( – )
- apostrophe ( ‘ )
Connected screw
After you have defined your nickname, it is time to enter WormNET. Click on the second button with 2 verses on the globe with a satellite above it.
Access to the snail network channel
To get into the WormNET channel, you must first select one of them. For the purposes of this guide, we will join #AnythingGoes. Double-click on the line to open the channel.
Statistics have shown that #PartyTime and #RopersHeaven are generally used for tournaments. It is not recommended to join/participate in them unless you are a member. Oh, and the #Help channel is gone, unfortunately.
Entering the game
Search the channel for the lobby of the game you are interested in. Games hosted by HostingBuddy usually have the name of the program in them. You search for “Intermediate” or even “Normal” to get a clean breakdown. Just double-click on the lobby you want to join.
A note on password games
Each of the games can be password protected. When you try to join one of them, you will be asked to enter the correct password within 30 seconds. Do not play a password-protected game unless you already know it.
To distinguish between games with and without passwords, search for both:
- The color of the font (where yellow – plays with the password, beige – no password).
- The padlock to the left of the row, to the left of the national flag (closed silver padlocks indicate games with a password, open gold padlocks indicate games without a password).

Add your team
After entering the game, look for the window with the head of the worms – these are your barracks. Click on them to select a barracks team. It is recommended that you only select a team to play with strangers, otherwise you run the risk of being kicked out.
You can also change the commands in the barracks directly by right-clicking on the line they represent.
Prepare.
Once you have assembled a team, you need to show that you are ready. To do this, click on the big light bulb icon. The light bulb icon means you are ready. Click on the light bulb again if you are not yet ready.
It is also important to note that any change in game settings will result in the elimination of all players.
When everyone is ready, the host can press a button to start the game. In
the case of HostingBuddy, once the host has liked “!start” to prepare HostingBuddy, and when everyone is ready, the game starts automatically.
Note on in-game chat
From the very beginning of the game, you will find that you can’t do anything. That’s because the cat in the game is holding you back. Press the top of the keyboard to close the chat. Press the image to open the chat again.
List of community servers
Sometimes the official WormNET server is down. Fortunately, you can still have fun by joining the community servers.
To join the community server, click on the “Options” button, which is the fourth button with a bunch of question marks.
Then click on the “Advanced” button.
And make sure the “Use community server list” option is enabled. Just click on the cell to activate this feature.
If you do this and try to connect to WormNET, you will get a list of servers. By default, version 3.8 will give you a list where there is only one community server and one development level server.
You are only interested in the official WormNET or, if you are mistaken, the community server. The same instructions apply for connecting to a community server game.
And that’s it for this Worms of Armageddon guide. Any other questions? Feel free to ask, leave a comment below.
